Spectrum Emulators

There are many different emulators available for the Spectrum. None are perfect (yet!), but some are better than others. The choice of emulator basically depends on:

  1. Your operating system - Windows, DOS, Linux, etc.
  2. Cost - free or paid for
  3. Quality - good, poor, indifferent
  4. What is emulated - not all emulators emulate all Spectrum models.

Spectaculator for Windows is featured on this site in the Easy Start section because it is easy to use, installs automatically and emulates virtually all the Spectrum features. However, you may wish to use another emulator for various reasons - e.g. you have an older machine or have a different operating system. If you are a mean person who never pays for anything, the free ZX32 emulator is for you.
