Emulate That Spectrum - Stage Two

You should have downloaded the emulator already. If not, go to the previous section for details.

You now need to install the emulator. To do this, look on the Windows desktop for something called Spectaculator. An example of the icon is shown here.

If the icon isn't on the desktop, either it has not downloaded yet or you completely ignored the previous instructions. You can either search your computer for the file or try downloading it again.

Check for viruses

You may want to check the file for viruses first, by right clicking on the icon and selecting Scan With.. (whatever antivirus sotware you have).

If you don't have any antivirus software installed, you are asking for trouble. AVG is free for personal use and can be downloaded here.

The Install Process

Once you have checked for viruses, double click on the icon (or right click and select Open). If a message is displayed, click Run. This will start the installation process - just click on the Next button in each box until you reach the end, where you click Finish. You have now installed the emulator. There is no need to restart, and you don't usually need to disconnect from the Internet while installing.

If your computer has more than one account (and it certainly should have), you will need to use an Administrator account to install the emulator. Right click and select the Run As... option instead of Open.
